Why Am I Not Surprised?

I hope the collapse of the tuna stocks does not come to pass. But the signs are not promising. It is a contencious issue. Fishermen need to feed their families. People need to eat. But how far can tunas be pressed?

  1. I'm a wetland ecologist, not a fisheries guy, but I think they put it best in that "Long Lines" documentary....once the bluefin are gone, it'll be the bigeye, the ahi, and then the yellowfin, and then we'll keep moving on to eradicate more.

The Japanese are simply not interested in changing what they are doing.

  2. My older just finished a Japanese history class at W&M. He had some very interesting insights about Japanese culture. It's very complex.
